Usage:
In the chemical industry, oxalic acid is widely used in starch hydrolysis to produce pure dextrin and the manufacture of glucose; production of hydroquinone, pentaerythritol, various oxalates, oxalates, salt-based greens, polyvinyl chloride, aminoplasts , varnish and other chemical products and oil refining.
In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used in the manufacture of chlortetracycline, oxytetracycline, tetracycline, streptomycin, vitamin B12, phenobarbital, calcium pantothenate, borneol, sodium meiodine and other drugs. The oxalic acid derivative, diglycolic acid, is used to make perfumes and medicines.
In the printing and dyeing and textile industries, it is used to replace acetic acid as a color developer for fast pigment dyes, a dyeing aid, a bleaching agent for knitted yarn and refined cotton, and an agent for washing and removing iron.
In the metallurgical industry, it is used to make fine carbon rods, to extract high-purity nickel, and to be used as metal precipitants in rare earth metal smelting (such as extraction of thorium and cerium from phosphorus, ornaments, and lanthanum ore).
In the motor industry, it is used to make tungsten alloy steel. In the tanning industry, it is used for oily treatment of leather. It is used in the refining of terpineol, glycerol and stearic acid in oleochemistry.
In addition, oxalic acid is also used in the film processing of aluminum alloys, the manufacture of hard alloys, alloy cutter heads, and as a reagent for steel and soil analysis.
The industries that use the most oxalic acid are the pharmaceutical industry and rare earth refining.
